When it comes to communication, traditional phone calls are becoming less common for most people. Third-party services like WhatsApp are now the go-to choice for many, including myself. However, juggling calls between multiple apps can be cumbersome and frustrating.
Thankfully, Samsung’s upcoming One UI 9 could change all that. A public beta of One UI 9, based on Android 17, is currently available for Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra users.
The new update to the dialer in One UI 9 allows users to view call history from third-party apps directly within the stock Phone app. This feature supports apps like WhatsApp and Google Meet, displaying call details seamlessly.
Additionally, the screenshot from SamMobile reveals a prominent Google Meet icon within the call information, hinting at the potential to initiate calls with a single tap. This could be a game-changer for users.
The feature is expected to be enabled by default, but users have the option to customize or disable it in the settings. However, it’s worth noting that popular apps like Messenger, Telegram, Signal, Discord, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams are currently not supported, leaving room for improvement.
While the One UI 9 beta is currently exclusive to Galaxy S26 devices, it is anticipated to roll out to other Samsung Galaxy handsets soon. The full version is set to debut on Samsung’s upcoming foldable devices in July.
