Steel Wool Studios Releases SteamVR Support for Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secrets of the Mimic
Steel Wool Studios has announced the release of SteamVR support for Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secrets of the Mimic (2025). This update allows players to confront the robotic evil within Murray’s Costume Manor using their PC VR headsets.
Originally planned to launch with PSVR 2 support, the studio decided to prioritize the PC version, with PSVR 2 mode set to release on April 28th this year.
Players on PC can now enjoy the VR mode, although there are some limitations. Room-scale gameplay is not supported, requiring players to stay within their designated boundaries and use in-game locomotion controls for navigation.
While the game offers a range of VR settings, players may need to adjust performance settings outside of the game for optimal experience. This includes tweaking the refresh rate in SteamVR settings for PC VR users and adjusting graphics preferences in the Meta Horizon Link desktop app for Quest Link/Air Link users.
For PC VR users unable to reach 120/144 Hz, disabling SteamVR’s motion smoothing feature is recommended. In some cases, deleting the entire configs folder may also help enhance performance.
Despite some known issues, the game is fully playable in VR mode, complete with motion controls. For a detailed review of the PSVR 2 mode, refer to ‘PSVR2 Without Parole’s full review below.
