Googlebook Glowbar Previews Pixel 11 Pixel Glow

While revealing various bits of Android news last week, Google showcased its latest line of laptops. Of particular interest is the Googlebook, which could offer a sneak peek at a potential new feature for the upcoming Pixel 11.

Prior to the Android Show: I/O Edition, leaks hinted at a lighting system on the lid of Google’s new laptop. This system, known as the ‘Glowbar’, may have similarities to a feature expected in the Pixel 11 series of phones.

References to a new Pixel phone feature called ‘Pixel Glow’ have been found in code. It is described as providing “subtle light and color on the back of your device to inform you of important activity when it’s face down”.

By comparing the Glowbar on the Googlebook with the rumored Pixel Glow feature, we can speculate on the appearance of the Pixel 11’s new functionality.

From a visual standpoint, the Glowbar is an LED strip light positioned near the edge of the laptop’s lid. The strip transitions between blue and red, blending through the spectrum in the middle – as shown in the teaser video below.

Google has not provided detailed information about the Glowbar, except to mention that it will be featured on all Googlebooks and will be both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Based on the appearance of the Glowbar on the Googlebook, it is likely that Pixel Glow will be integrated into the phone’s camera bar rather than the ‘G’ logo on the back.

Although leaked CAD-based renders of the Pixel 11 devices do not show the Pixel Glow lights, this may be because they are hidden. There is no confirmation that this feature will be included in this year’s Pixel flagships.

Nevertheless, there is optimism that it will be, especially considering that Googlebooks with the Glowbar are set to be released later in 2026.
