Dreams on a Pillow: A Unique Pseudo-Stealth Adventure Game
In late 2024, Palestinian developer Rasheed Abueideh unveiled Dreams on a Pillow, a game inspired by the Nakba of 1948, a period of ethnic cleansing in Palestine. This emotional response to the attacks on Gaza in 2023 takes players on a journey through a young woman named Khadra’s escape from her village, carrying a pillow with her at all times. The game not only portrays the events of the Nakba but also delves into the lead up to it, showcasing the beauty of daily life in Palestine before the tragedy unfolded.
Abueideh recently shared an update on the game’s development progress, stating that full production has commenced with a dedicated team working on bringing Khadra’s story to life. The gameplay loop in Dreams on a Pillow mirrors Khadra’s perilous journey from her homeland to safety in Southern Lebanon, capturing the harsh realities, traumatic nightmares, and nostalgic memories of her childhood in Al Tantura.
While a release date for Dreams on a Pillow is yet to be confirmed, supporters can contribute to its development on LaunchGood and wishlist it on Steam. Stay tuned for more updates on this captivating pseudo-stealth adventure game.
