Dystopia VS Distortion combines rock music and deck-building

Dystopia VS Distortion: A Unique Blend of Deck-Building and Music Gear

Indie Japanese developer MY NEW GAMES has recently unveiled Dystopia VS Distortion, a captivating game that intertwines deck-building elements with musical equipment.

Unlike typical card decks with spells and attacks, players assemble and rearrange a virtual pedalboard featuring guitar effects such as Overdrive, Distortion, Compressor, Delay, Chorus, and Booster pedals.

Similar to a real guitar setup, each pedal’s placement influences the signal’s behavior, resulting in diverse attack patterns, damage multipliers, hit counts, defensive buffs, and status effects. A simple pedal repositioning can entirely alter the outcome of a battle, transforming what initially appears as a stylish gimmick into a genuinely tactical experience.

The combat unfolds at a brisk pace, with battles involving swift adjustments to the pedalboard amidst facing waves of mechanical foes.

There’s a gratifying rhythm to the gameplay, where optimization seamlessly integrates into the action rather than being confined to downtime between encounters. Players are constantly experimenting and striving to uncover potent combinations as enemies escalate in aggression.

Interested players can add Dystopia VS Distortion to their wishlist on PC via Steam.

Noteworthy is the game’s current utilization of generative AI assets for certain backgrounds, enemy designs, and card illustrations. The developers have acknowledged this and confirmed that these assets are temporary, with plans to replace them with entirely original artwork before the game’s official launch.
