iOS 27: Apple Wallet adding new ‘Create a Pass’ feature, per report

iOS 27 is once again rumored to introduce a valuable new feature for the Wallet app. According to a recent report, iOS 27 will include a “Create a Pass” feature in the Wallet app, enabling users to convert physical passes into digital ones. Here’s a breakdown of how it will function.

A new report from Bloomberg provides additional insights into a previous leak regarding this feature. Bloomberg explains that the “Create a Pass” feature will allow users to “take a QR code and generate a custom pass around it.”

“The feature is designed for scenarios where, for instance, a gym or concert app issues a QR code for entry but does not support the Wallet app,” the report states. “With this new tool, users can import the code and create their personalized pass.”

The upcoming feature will be accessible through the “+” button in the Wallet app, located in the same menu used for adding new credit cards.

Users will have various customization options, including different templates, colors, images, icons, and more:

Users can either create a pass from scratch or utilize the iPhone’s camera to capture a QR code and transform it into a digital ticket. The feature includes customization tools for styles, images, colors, and text fields, enabling users to personalize the information displayed on each pass.

Apple is currently testing three template options: standard, membership, and event. The standard template, in orange, serves as a default option for any pass type, while the membership template, in blue, is tailored for entry into places like gyms. The event pass template, in purple, is designed for tickets to games, movies, and other events.

iOS 27 is set to be announced at WWDC, commencing in just over a month on June 8. Share your thoughts on this new Wallet feature in the comments below.
