iOS 27 is expected to introduce a range of new AI-powered photo editing features, as per a recent report. These features are designed to enhance, expand, and reframe images quickly and efficiently.
iOS 27 to focus on AI-powered photo editing features
Bloomberg has revealed that iOS 27 will revamp the editing interface within the Photos app to include a new section called “Apple Intelligence Tools.” This section is said to offer three options that can make photo adjustments in just a few seconds.
The “Extend” feature will enable users to create additional image content outside the original frame. For instance, users can capture a close-up shot of a landmark and use the tool to add surrounding scenery. Users can adjust the amount of content added by dragging the photo’s edges with their fingers.
“Enhance” will automatically enhance the quality of an image, including aspects like lighting and colors. Lastly, the “Reframe” option will allow users to alter the perspective of spatial photos.
However, the development of these new photo editing features has faced challenges, with the Extend and Reframe tools not performing reliably during internal testing. Apple may need to delay or reduce these features depending on improvements to their underlying models.
iOS 27 is set to be unveiled at WWDC on June 8 and will also include significant enhancements to the Siri experience. Additionally, Apple is prioritizing bug fixes and overall stability improvements.
