While the spotlight was on the Find X9 Ultra at Oppo’s recent launch event in China, there were several other exciting devices introduced, including tablets, smartwatches, and more.
One device that stood out to me was the Oppo Pad mini. Not only did Oppo showcase it next to the iPad mini on a massive screen to highlight its narrower bezels, but it’s also a long-awaited addition to the brand’s lineup.
I had the opportunity to see the Pad mini in person at the event in Chengdu, and it definitely made a lasting impression on me.
Unlike many Android tablets that are bulky and heavy, the Oppo Pad mini is just 5.4mm thin and weighs 279g, making it incredibly portable. Its premium metal unibody design, available in Monet Purple, Space Grey, and Mint Green, adds to its appeal. Additionally, the optional stylus conveniently attaches to the side of the tablet.
The standout feature for me is the stunning 8.8-inch AMOLED display with a narrow bezel, 144Hz refresh rate, 1600 nit peak brightness, and 344 ppi pixel density. In person, the display is truly impressive.
Under the hood, the Pad mini packs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, an 8000mAh battery, and 67W wired charging. With a price tag of CNY 3,699 (approximately £400/$540), it offers a compelling option in the compact tablet market.
Unfortunately, the Oppo Pad mini may only be available in China, leaving those in other regions to consider alternatives like the Oppo Pad 5 or potential future offerings from Xiaomi or Oppo. Hopefully, more compact Android tablets will hit the market soon.
