Battlefield 6 roadmap promises classic maps, naval warfare, server browser & more

Battlefield Studios has unveiled exciting plans for the future of Battlefield 6, outlining upcoming features, content updates, and gameplay changes set to roll out in Season 3 and beyond in 2026. Among the highlights are the introduction of classic map remakes, naval warfare elements, a permanent server browser, and much more.

Season 3 is scheduled to debut in May, with a focus on introducing fan-favorite elements such as revamped versions of Battlefield 4’s Golmud Railway and Battlefield 3’s Grand Bazaar. Renamed as Railway to Golmud and Cairo Bazaar, respectively, these remakes will cater to nostalgic players. Additionally, Season 3 will introduce Ranked Play and a solos mode for Redsec’s Battle Royale.

Looking ahead to Season 4, kicking off in July, players can anticipate a seamless blend of land, air, and sea combat. The arrival of the expansive Tsuru Reef map and a remake of Wake Island will bring aircraft carriers with functional flight decks, new naval vehicles, and a dynamic wave system into the mix. Furthermore, custom lobbies and a spectator mode will be added to enhance the gameplay experience.

As the final season of 2026, Season 5 remains shrouded in mystery, with DICE teasing the inclusion of three new maps for players to explore.

These upcoming updates address player feedback by introducing larger-scale maps, introducing aquatic battles, and reviving beloved locations from previous titles. In addition to these major changes, the following additions have been promised:

  • A server browser with persistent servers.
  • Multiplayer leaderboards
  • The return of the Platoons clan system
  • Proximity chat feature
  • Enhancements to soldier visibility
  • Matchmaking improvements
  • New weapons for players to wield
  • Updates based on community feedback for New Sobek City and Blackwell Fields maps

While the roadmap for Battlefield 6 signals a positive shift in direction, it is worth noting the delays and challenges faced by Battlefield Studios in recent months. Despite a successful launch, Season 1 setbacks and EA-imposed layoffs have hindered progress. The commitment to addressing player concerns is evident, but the ultimate success of these updates remains to be seen.
