Apple recently introduced a new boarding pass experience in Apple Wallet as part of iOS 26. United and Southwest have already implemented the new features, and now American Airlines has joined in as well.

The latest update to the American Airlines app for iPhone includes support for the new Apple Wallet boarding pass features. According to the release notes, the boarding pass now offers more functionality, including quick access to Apple Maps, destination guides, and shortcuts to the app. Passengers can also track their luggage and open Find My directly from the pass.

Your boarding pass has a new look with more at your fingertips, like Apple Maps, destination guides, and quick shortcuts to the app. You can also track your luggage and open Find My right from your pass.

The updated boarding pass experience in Apple Wallet provides detailed flight information, airport details in Apple Maps, the ability to share flight information with others, and easy access to tracking AirTag-equipped luggage in the Find My app.

American Airlines’ adoption of the new feature is significant as it is the largest airline in the US based on annual passenger count.

Previously, boarding passes in Apple Wallet only displayed basic flight information. Now, the enhanced boarding passes offer a more comprehensive view of flight details.

Currently, the refreshed boarding passes in Apple Wallet are supported by American Airlines, United Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and Air Canada. Apple has also announced that Delta, JetBlue, Jetstar, Lufthansa Group, Qantas, and Virgin Australia will soon support the feature.

Despite the new features, Delta recently dropped its support for the iOS 26 boarding passes due to bugs and performance issues. It is unclear if Delta will reintroduce the feature in the future.
