Ultra or Fold? Foldable iPhone Release Date and Naming Rumors

Recent reports about the potential delay of the “iPhone Fold” have been refuted by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who confirms that Apple is still on track to unveil its first foldable iPhone in September as planned.

Although concerns have been raised by Nikkei Asia regarding component manufacturing issues that could affect mass production and shipment schedules, Gurman asserts that the foldable iPhone is set to be introduced alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max in September, with sales expected to follow shortly after.

While there may be limited availability initially due to supply chain challenges, Apple’s recent product release patterns suggest that the launch will proceed as scheduled. The anticipated price point of around $2,000 also indicates that demand may not be as high as for other iPhone models.

Despite the current timeline, Gurman acknowledges that plans could change in the coming months as production ramps up. The potential naming of the foldable iPhone, whether it be “iPhone Fold” or “iPhone Ultra,” remains speculative at this point.

The ‘iPhone Ultra’?

While the name “iPhone Fold” has been commonly used as a placeholder, there is speculation that Apple might opt for “iPhone Ultra” instead. This name, previously associated with a different type of iPhone, could signal a new direction for Apple’s product lineup.

It is worth noting that naming decisions are typically kept under wraps until closer to the product launch, so the final name for the foldable iPhone is still unknown. Whether it will be called “iPhone Fold,” “iPhone Ultra,” or something else entirely, Apple’s branding strategy will play a key role in shaping consumer perceptions.

As with any rumors in the tech industry, it is essential to approach the information with caution until official confirmation is provided by Apple. Stay tuned for updates as the launch date approaches.
