When will A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 be released?

The renewal of the series for a second season was announced in November 2025, even before the premiere of the first season. Filming commenced in December 2025 at Belfast’s Titanic Studios in Ireland and in Spain. The second season is set to premiere in 2027 with six episodes.

In the US, season one is currently available on HBO Max, with subscription plans starting at $10.99 per month for ad-supported viewing.

UK viewers can watch A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms on the Now streaming service, with packages starting at £9.99 per month for an Entertainment Membership. A discounted rate of £4.99 per month is available with the Entertainment Saver Plan and a longer commitment.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 plot

The new Game of Thrones prequel is based on Tales of Dunk and Egg, a series of novellas by George R.R. Martin. They follow the journeys and escapades of the knight Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and his young squire, Egg.

Set around 70 years after the House of the Dragon and 90 years before Game of Thrones, the series will focus on the second novella titled The Sworn Sword. Taking place two years after the Ashford tournament, viewers can expect a slight time shift.

Season 2 will see Ser Duncan and Egg in The Reach, located south of Westeros, a region known for its admiration of knighthood and chivalry. Dunk is now a sworn knight of Ser Eustace Osgrey of Standfast, who is embroiled in a dispute with Lady Rohanne Webber of Coldmoat over water rights during a severe drought.

The narrative also includes flashbacks to the Daemon Blackfyre rebellion, known as the Black Dragon, which occurred several years prior to the Tales of Dunk and Egg events.
