Highguard, a new multiplayer shooter from developers who have experience with games like Apex Legends and Call of Duty, recently launched. However, there have been reports of job cuts at developer Wildlight Entertainment. Former Wildlight level designer Alex Graner mentioned on LinkedIn that “most of the team at Wildlight” was laid off, a statement corroborated by former lead tech artist Josh Sobel.
The extent of the layoffs and how they will impact the future of Highguard remain uncertain. Wildlight has not responded to requests for comment from The Verge at this time.
In a related development, Riot Games also announced layoffs on a major live service project this week. Approximately 80 individuals were let go from its recently-launched 2XKO fighting game within the League of Legends universe.
