Following the recent release of iOS 26.2.1, Apple has now ceased signing iOS 26.2, preventing downgrades.
Apple has also stopped signing multiple versions of iOS 12, iOS 15, iOS 16, and iOS 18
When Apple deems an iOS update to have essential security fixes or sufficient stability, earlier versions are no longer signed, making downgrades impossible.
As reported by MacRumors, this is what has occurred with iOS 26.2.
If you are currently on iOS 26.2.1, released just a week ago, you are now unable to downgrade to iOS 26.2 or any previous version.
The release notes for iOS 26.2.1 mentioned support for AirTag (2nd generation) and bug fixes, without specifying any security fixes or CVEs.
In addition to iOS 26.2, Apple has reportedly stopped signing iOS 12.5.7, iOS 15.8.5, iOS 16.7.12, and iOS 18.7.3, following the recent releases of iOS 12.5.8, iOS 15.8.6, iOS 16.7.14, and iOS 18.7.4.
