Exciting news for Super Mario Bros. fans! The Switch 2 Edition of the game, along with the Meetup in Bellabel Park DLC, is set to release in March. This upgrade feels like a great move by Nintendo, giving the beloved game some well-deserved attention on the new system.
Alongside the new content, Nintendo is also introducing three new amiibo figures tied to the game. Each amiibo costs $24.99 and will be available on March 26, the same day as the DLC launch. Pre-orders are now open.
The amiibo lineup includes Elephant Mario, Captain Toad with a Talking Flower, and Poplin with Prince Florian. Elephant Mario is adorably depicted squeezing out of a pipe in his elephant form. Poplin is shown holding a watering can with Prince Florian on his head, while Captain Toad strikes a pose next to the chatty Talking Flower.
In a quirky addition, Nintendo is also releasing a Talking Flower toy that actually talks to you. This unique toy is available for pre-order at $34.99.
The Switch 2 version of Super Mario Bros. Wonder is priced at $79.99, but there’s a cost-saving workaround for those who already own the original Switch version. You can purchase the standard Switch release for $46.99 at Woot and then upgrade to the Switch 2 Edition via the eShop for $19.99 after the expansion is released.
This brings the total cost to $64.99 for the full Switch 2 experience, saving you $15. A great deal compared to paying the full Nintendo tax!
For UK fans, the Switch 2 version is available for £66.99 physical, along with the new amiibo at My Nintendo Store UK.
