Samsung’s prettiest Galaxy Z Flip7 might be the one you can’t buy

Samsung has introduced a special edition Galaxy Z Flip7 tailored for the athletes participating in the upcoming Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. This exclusive version will not be available for purchase, as it is exclusively reserved for distribution to nearly 3,800 Olympians and Paralympians from around 90 countries.

The Galaxy Z Flip7 is considered an essential part of the athletes’ kit, designed to assist them in navigating through Village life and capturing and sharing significant moments.

Starting January 30, the distribution of these special edition phones will take place at Olympic Villages located in six cities. Samsung’s Open Station will be available for in-person assistance with activation, data transfers, and general technical support.

Design and Features

The design of the Galaxy Z Flip7 Milano Cortina edition aims to evoke a sense of nostalgia and commemoration. The back glass is adorned in a signature blue color inspired by the Milano Cortina 2026 aesthetics and Italian azure, while a custom gold metal frame represents the achievement of podium finishes. Additionally, the phone comes with a clear magnet case featuring a blue circular magnet encircled by gold laurel leaves.

In terms of specifications, Samsung highlights the edge-to-edge FlexWindow and Galaxy AI features that enhance one-handed usability. The phone’s dual rear camera system comprises a 50MP wide camera and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. The Photo Assist feature enables users to manipulate, erase, enlarge, and modify elements using AI. Moreover, the on-device Interpreter facilitates real-time translation without the need for a network connection, particularly beneficial in mountainous regions.

Enhanced Services for Athletes

Samsung has equipped the Galaxy Z Flip7 with various services aimed at simplifying the athletes’ experience during the Games. Athletes will enjoy complimentary connectivity through a 100GB 5G eSIM, along with digital passes and other conveniences within Samsung Wallet. This includes a Coca-Cola Free Beverage Key that can be used at vending machines across the Villages.

Additionally, there are tools designed to foster community engagement and aid in planning. The Galaxy Athlete Card enables profile sharing and interactive activities among athletes, while Athlete365 provides support for performance and mental well-being. It seamlessly integrates with Now Brief for competition updates. Preloaded apps include the official Olympic Games app, IOC Hotline, PinQuest, and a fitness application that can monitor workouts and provide training insights using exercise equipment available in the Villages.

Innovations to Look Forward to in 2026

The Galaxy Z Flip7 edition will play a pivotal role in capturing Victory Selfie podium moments, a new feature making its debut at the Winter Games in Milano Cortina 2026. The concept will expand to include team sport competitions, promising larger group shots.

Samsung has not indicated whether this special edition of the Flip7 will be released for sale in the future. However, users can anticipate the integration of these unique software experiences into standard Galaxy phones post the Games.
