Larian intends to provide “more insight” into their use of generative AI through an upcoming ask me anything session scheduled for the new year. This session will also offer the opportunity to ask general questions about Divinity. Following the announcement of Baldur’s Gate 3 developers’ next RPG by Geoff, CEO Swen Vincke revealed that the studio is making limited use of generative AI.
In response to criticism about Larian’s utilization of genAI for various purposes such as exploring ideas and creating placeholder text, the CEO announced an upcoming ask me anything chat in the new year. Vincke emphasized that the aim of this interaction is to address any questions regarding Divinity and the development process directly, as some information may have been misconstrued since the announcement.
Although a specific date for the chat has not been disclosed yet, the CEO expressed that it will be revealed in 2026. Vincke also shared his perspective on Larian’s approach, stating, “Larian’s DNA is agency. Everything we work towards is to the benefit of our teams, games, and players. Our successes stem from empowering individuals to work in their own way and excel in their craft to create the best RPGs.”
“In that context, it would be irresponsible for us not to evaluate new technologies. However, our processes are always evolving, and where they are not efficient or fail to align with who we are, we will make changes.”
Despite facing backlash, Vincke and the team have been actively addressing concerns and providing clarifications through various means. Larian’s publishing director Michael Douse has also been involved in explaining the situation. While some attempts to defend the studio on social media may not have been received well, the team continues to engage with the community.
