NBA 2K24 servers are being shut down today

As we usher in a new year, we also mark the annual event of NBA 2K servers being shut down. Starting from January 1st, 2026, all online features for NBA 2K24 have been deactivated. This includes multiplayer, MyCareer, and MyTeam modes. However, offline modes like MyNBA and Play Now are still accessible. NBA 2K24, which was launched on September 8th, 2023, was discontinued from sale in October 2025.

The NBA 2K support page announces, “Effective January 1, 2026, multiplayer games and all online modes will be inaccessible. MyCAREER and MyTEAM will no longer be accessible, and Virtual Currency (VC) cannot be earned. While Play Now, MyNBA, The W, and MyWNBA will still be playable, features requiring connection to 2K servers will be disabled. This includes multiplayer, Online Leagues, and community sharing. We appreciate your support and hope you continue to enjoy NBA 2K!”

In our review of NBA 2K24, we highlighted, “Irrespective of reviews, NBA 2K24 will continue to be a bestseller and generate substantial revenue through VC. This is mainly due to the lack of alternatives for basketball gaming enthusiasts. The gameplay is commendable, but the aggressive monetization tactics by 2K have made modes like MyCareer almost unplayable without additional investments.”
