Last Minute Rumors About What We'll See at Today's 'Awe Dropping' Event

We are just hours away from Apple’s highly anticipated iPhone event, and there are some last-minute rumors circulating about what we can expect the company to unveil later today.

iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max

Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman suggests that Apple will introduce significant battery life improvements for both the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max flagship models.

Although Gurman did not provide specifics on the battery enhancements, information from a Chinese regulatory database indicates that the iPhone 17 Pro will feature a 4,252 mAh battery in regions without a SIM card tray, marking an impressive 18.7% increase from the iPhone 16 Pro’s 3,582 mAh capacity.

The data also suggests that the larger iPhone 17 Pro Max could potentially have a battery exceeding 5,000 mAh, with a rumored 5,088 mAh capacity, representing an 8.6% increase from the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The improved battery life is attributed to Apple eliminating the plastic placeholder used in SIM-less iPhones since the iPhone 14, allowing for additional battery cells without enlarging the devices. However, there are rumors indicating that the iPhone 17 Pro Max may be slightly thicker than its predecessor.

Apple is expected to expand eSIM-only availability for the iPhone 17 lineup beyond the US to regions like the EU. Nonetheless, iPhones intended for China will retain physical SIM slots to comply with local regulations.

Gurman predicts that coupled with the anticipated power efficiencies of the A19 Pro chip, the enhanced battery capacities will result in extended usage time between charges.

Furthermore, the Pro lineup is rumored to be offered in two unique colors, orange and blue, and feature improved optical zoom, possibly reaching 8x magnification compared to the 5x zoom of the iPhone 16 Pro models. Additionally, a vapor chamber cooling system for enhanced heat dissipation, external design modifications including a revamped rear camera system with three 48-megapixel cameras are expected.

Apple Watch Ultra 3

Gurman also suggests that Apple will unveil a third-generation Apple Watch Ultra featuring a larger screen. Although the exact screen size was not disclosed, reports indicate that the new display may have a resolution of 422 x 514 pixels, a slight upgrade from the current Ultra 2’s 410 x 502 panel. This enhancement will expand the screen’s viewing area without altering the overall dimensions of the Watch Ultra.

The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is anticipated to showcase the largest Apple Watch display to date, offering improved readability and maximizing the watch’s spacious front surface.

Additionally, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is expected to sport an upgraded display similar to the one utilized in the Apple Watch Series 10, which introduced an LTPO3 OLED always-on Retina display last year, surpassing the Ultra 2’s LTPO2 panel.

Moreover, the Series 10 debuted a wide-angle OLED that delivers 40% more brightness when viewed off-axis compared to the Ultra’s OLED display, a feature likely to be integrated into the Apple Watch Ultra 3 as well.

Enhancements such as satellite messaging capabilities and 5G connectivity are also anticipated for the Ultra 3.

Apple is set to reveal the Apple Watch Ultra 3 at today’s “Awe Dropping” event, alongside new iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro models, Apple Watch Series 11 and SE 3 models, AirPods Pro 3, and possibly a new M5-powered iPad Pro.

Stay tuned for all the updates.
