I’ve been using the Pixel 9 Pro XL since its launch, not because I had no other options, but because I genuinely believe it’s one of the top Android phones out there. I’m a fan, but that doesn’t mean I overlook its shortcomings.
Initially, when the Pixel 10 Pro leaks started surfacing, I was a bit disappointed. The lack of significant design changes from the Pixel 9 Pro XL to the Pixel 10 Pro XL made it seem like just an iterative upgrade. However, now that the Pixel 10 family has been unveiled, I’m feeling optimistic. The Pixel 10 Pro XL appears to be the phone that the Pixel 9 Pro XL should have been.
My main gripe with the Pixel 9 Pro XL after a year of use has been its battery life. When compared to devices like the OnePlus 13 or the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, it falls short in terms of endurance. Despite having a higher capacity battery, Samsung’s optimization puts it ahead. Google needs to focus on improving battery optimization to compete effectively.
The Pixel 10 will feature a first for smartphones
Google has been relatively conservative in the battery and charging department, but the Pixel 10 Pro XL brings something exciting to the table. It is the first phone to support Qi2 25W, the latest standard in wireless charging announced in July 2025. This advancement allows for up to 25W wireless charging, surpassing the current 15W standard.
I don’t say this lightly: this could completely change the Android accessories space
While Qi2 charging has been on the horizon for some time in the Android world, only a few devices like the HMD Skyline have implemented it. With Google now onboard, the Pixel 10 phones are at the forefront of this technology.

This development has the potential to revolutionize the Android accessories market. Magnetic chargers, improved in-car mounts, and better nightstand solutions are just some of the possibilities that could enhance the overall user experience.
It’s highly likely that the iPhone 17 Pro will also incorporate 25W MagSafe charging in the near future.
Tensor takes a turn for the better
While most Android enthusiasts would typically prefer Snapdragon processors in their devices, Google has been forging its path with Tensor for the past four years. The upcoming Tensor 5 chipset promises a 34% faster CPU and a 60% faster TPU for handling AI tasks. These performance upgrades could significantly elevate the Pixel’s competitiveness in the market.
Additionally, the Pixel 10 Pro is equipped with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, ensuring readiness for future connectivity standards when they become mainstream.
A display that keeps getting better
Google has been progressively enhancing its display technology over the years. The Pixel 10 Pro boasts a brightness of 3,300 nits, offering exceptional HDR capabilities. This high brightness level, especially reserved for specific content, contributes to more impactful and lifelike visuals.
…images look so much brighter and more lifelike than they do on other devices
The Ultra HDR system on the Pixel 10 Pro captures and displays images with remarkable brightness and detail, setting a new standard for visual quality. Users browsing through Google Photos on the Pixel will notice a significant difference in image vibrancy compared to other devices.
While Ultra HDR may divide opinions, its ability to deliver stunning visuals can make other displays seem lackluster in comparison. The immersive experience it offers is unmatched by conventional displays.
Okay, it’s really about the Pixel camera
The standout feature of the Pixel 9 Pro XL, and the reason it remains in my daily rotation, is its camera system. Google’s approach of relying on top-notch cameras and advanced software algorithms has been the key to the Pixel’s imaging success.
With the Pixel 10 Pro introducing 100x zoom, enhanced by AI capabilities, Google aims to push the boundaries of mobile photography further. The new Pro Res Zoom feature promises improved zoom quality, although with some limitations like excluding people from shots. The Pixel 10 Pro also boasts enhanced image stabilization for better low-light performance.
Same look, but a lot more going on
Although the Pixel 10 retains a similar design to its predecessor, it brings significant advancements under the hood. The inclusion of Qi2 25W charging and 100x zoom capabilities sets it apart from the competition. Google’s commitment to innovation is evident in these new features, positioning the Pixel 10 as a leader in the Android market.
