Exciting Update for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered
Great news for fans of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered! A new update has been released, introducing a unique way to experience the game’s story with the new chronological mode.
This new feature is now available in patch 2.1.0 for PS5 and patch 1.5 for the PC version of the game on platforms like Steam and Epic.
When The Last of Us Part 2 was initially released, the story unfolded in a non-linear fashion, showcasing the intertwining stories of Ellie and Abby in a mixed-up sequence that alternated between flashbacks and present-day events.
According to Jonathan Dornbush from Naughty Dog, “Through the new Chronological mode, players will gain a deeper understanding of Part II’s narrative. From Ellie receiving a guitar to learning to play, to the parallel journeys of Ellie and Abby through Seattle, players will witness the close encounters and impactful actions of both characters.”
While the studio still recommends playing the game in its original format, this new mode offers a fresh perspective. Players who choose to play this way will also unlock two new skins, transforming Joel into Nathan Drake and Tommy into Sam Drake for the No Return roguelike survival mode.
This update is quite unusual, arriving five years after the game’s initial release on PS4. It is reminiscent of the chronological story mode added to Beyond: Two Souls for its PS4 remaster. The timing of this update, following the release of Season 2 of HBO’s The Last of Us adaptation, is also noteworthy, especially considering the non-linear storytelling of the game and TV show.
Reflecting on The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered for PS5, Gamoc expressed, “The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered refines and enhances a misunderstood masterpiece. The game still looks incredible, and the new mode and behind-the-scenes content add to the experience. While it may not be as groundbreaking as the remaster of TLOU Part 1, the upgrade price from PS4 is reasonable. For newcomers, this version offers the best way to experience the game, especially with the addition of No Return for extended gameplay without the emotional intensity of the main story.”
