ShapesXR (2021), the 3D and XR prototyping platform, has just unveiled a brand new animation feature that empowers design teams to enhance their XR prototypes with more expression and realism.
The latest ‘Animation’ feature from the studio introduces a user-friendly frame-based animation system, allowing creators to incorporate transitions and dynamic interactions between scenes without the need for coding.
From UI motion to storytelling beats and interactive gestures, all can be easily scripted using ShapesXR’s Animation feature. The studio emphasizes that this feature is designed to elevate XR prototypes to be more immersive, expressive, and engaging.
“Animation is at the core of our platform—we have a rich history in animation, and integrating it into ShapesXR in a fast, intuitive, and accessible manner has always been our vision,” said Inga Petryaevskaya, CEO of ShapesXR. “Our aim was to enable rapid prototyping without compromising on speed and creative freedom to explore new concepts.”
Similar to all creations on ShapesXR, the new Animation feature facilitates real-time collaboration for design teams and allows animation of assets on any device with a browser, enabling users to seamlessly switch between traditional monitors and XR headsets, including Quest and Pico headsets.
In addition, the Animation feature is accompanied by new sample spaces and an in-space interactive tutorial guided by a virtual instructor to assist users in mastering the art of animating assets within the app.
Launched in 2021, ShapesXR targets creatives and businesses, offering a free version on the Horizon Store for Quest 2 and above and the Pico Store. It provides a wide range of tools, features, and export formats for those interested in XR app prototyping.
While the free version has its limitations, including only one editable space, a 10 state cap per space, and a 20 MB cap on asset imports, users can opt for a Business or Enterprise license for more capabilities.
