A recently leaked image of the upcoming Nothing Phone (3) has given us a sneak peek at Nothing’s new flagship smartphone, revealing a sleek design that seems to be missing something important.
According to reports, Nothing has decided to do away with its iconic Glyph lighting system, a move that has been met with approval. The leaked image render by journalist Max Jambor seems to confirm the absence of flashy lights on the device.
The image shows a device that resembles previous Nothing phones, such as the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro, featuring a familiar semi-transparent design. There are no visible extra lights on the back of the phone, leading to speculation that they may be hidden under the rear cover.
Rumors suggest that Nothing may replace the Glyph system with a new dot-matrix lighting system, similar to the one seen on the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro. However, this new render does not seem to showcase this feature.
Enter the dot-matrix
The Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro features a stealthy dot-matrix display on the back, which only appears when active. It’s possible that Nothing could implement a similar system on their new flagship device.
The leaked image also reveals a subtle camera module on the Nothing Phone (3), in contrast to the more prominent circular module on the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro. Only the individual camera mountings stand out from the back of the phone.
Nothing founder Carl Pei has hinted that the Nothing Phone (3) will be priced around £800, positioning it as the company’s first true flagship smartphone. The device is expected to feature premium materials, significant performance upgrades, and innovative software.
The official launch of the Nothing Phone (3) is scheduled for 1 July 2025 at 6pm BST (UK time).
