During the 2025 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) keynote, Apple announced the release of MacOS Tahoe 26. This new version features a visually stunning Liquid Glass interface, offering a translucent design that reflects and refracts its surroundings. The Dock, sidebars, and toolbars have been refined, with the menu bar now completely transparent to create a larger display feel. Users can personalize their Mac with light and dark icons, colorful tints, and customizable folders with emojis or symbols.
Continuity features in MacOS Tahoe include a new Phone app for relaying calls from nearby iPhones, with features like Favorites, Recents, Voicemail, Hold Assist, and Call Screening. Live Activities from the user’s iPhone appear in the Mac’s menu bar for real-time updates on sports scores, deliveries, flights, and more.
Spotlight has been enhanced to provide comprehensive search results and new actions, such as creating notes and sending emails without switching between apps. The new Apple Intelligence features in MacOS Tahoe include Live Translation in Messages and FaceTime calls, Shortcuts for intelligent tasks, Genmoji creation, and improved Reminders categorization.
A dedicated Apple Games app centralizes Mac gaming experiences, offering a Game Overlay feature for adjusting settings, chatting with friends, and more without leaving the game. Safari now boasts a rounded tab design, faster loading speeds, and improved battery life, while the Messages app introduces backgrounds, polls, and a redesigned details view.
Other updates in MacOS Tahoe 26 include the Journal app for writing, enhanced Photos app customization, improved Notes app functionality, and a redesigned FaceTime interface. Developers can access the beta version now, with a public beta available in July and the official release scheduled for the fall.
