Scuf has announced the addition of drift-resistant Hall effect sticks to its updated versions of the wireless Envision and Reflex controllers. The new models include the Envision and Envision Pro for PC, starting at $149.99 and $199.99 respectively, as well as the Reflex Pro and Reflex FPS for PlayStation 5 and PC, starting at $249.99 and $279.99. These prices are just the starting point, as Scuf offers a range of customization options that can increase the cost further.
By introducing the Hall effect upgrade, Scuf is aligning its wireless offerings with the wired-only Valor Pro and Nomad mobile controllers. This update replaces the original Reflex and Envision pads that were first introduced in 2021 and 2023 respectively.
The move to Hall effect sticks comes at a time when this drift-resistant sensing technology is becoming more common in controllers from brands like 8BitDo, Razer, and GameSir. However, major players like Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft have yet to incorporate this feature into their controllers. Some manufacturers are already looking towards the next generation of drift-resistant technology with TMR sticks.
While Scuf controllers may come at a higher price point compared to premium options from Microsoft and Sony, such as the Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and DualSense Edge, they offer unique features for those willing to invest. These controllers provide native wireless options for Xbox Series X / S and PS5, with rear paddles and clicky hair-trigger options that are highly regarded. The addition of drift-resistant sticks addresses a previous limitation and makes them a more compelling choice.
It’s a case of better late than never for Scuf, as they continue to innovate and improve their offerings in the competitive controller market.
