The popular spin-off of The Addams Family made a significant impact on Netflix when it premiered, joining the ranks of other successful shows like Stranger Things and Squid Game. Fans were left wondering about season 2 due to a prolonged silence, leading to speculations about the series being acquired by another streaming platform.
Netflix finally announced the renewal of the series for a second season, but there are still many unanswered questions about the production. Here’s what we know so far.

What is the plot of Wednesday season 2?
The season 1 finale unraveled the mystery of Goody Addams, Joseph Crackstone, and the ominous forest creature. However, some loose ends remain untied. In the final scene, Wednesday receives a mysterious message and unsettling photos, hinting at another individual lurking around the school. Does this tie into Marilyn Thornhill’s case? And who is the stalker?
The fate of Marilyn and Tyler, who escapes from the prison convoy, remains uncertain. Will Tyler seek revenge on Wednesday, or will he have a change of heart?
The first season introduced a menacing cult that Bianca’s mother is part of, indicating their involvement in crucial plot developments in the upcoming episodes.
There are numerous unanswered questions. Who will take charge of the Nevermore Academy after Larissa Weems’ demise? What lies ahead for Wednesday and Xavier’s romance? How will Wednesday and Morticia’s relationship evolve?
As showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar expressed in an interview with Hollywood Reporter:
We want to delve into and complicate all those relationships moving forward. The school was closed when they left, providing us with ample possibilities for season two, which we’re excited to explore. The show primarily revolves around the female friendship of Wednesday and Enid. Their connection with the audience has been gratifying, and we’re eager to explore how their friendship evolves now that Wednesday has embraced it. The Wednesday-Morticia mother-daughter relationship is also a key focus, especially now that Morticia is aware of the power dynamics. How will their relationship progress?
In an intriguing conversation on Variety’s Actors on Actors series, Jenna Ortega hinted that Wednesday season 2 may shift focus from teen drama to horror:
We’ve decided to emphasize the horror elements of the show because of its lighthearted nature. With vampires, werewolves, and superpowers, it’s important not to take ourselves too seriously. We’re abandoning any romantic love interests for Wednesday, which is a refreshing change.
Who is starring in Wednesday season 2?
Entertainment Weekly reports that Lady Gaga will feature in Wednesday season 2. The renowned pop star, known for her recent album alongside her role as Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie à Deux, has been actively pursuing her acting career.
Aside from her appearance in the DC film, Gaga has starred in Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci, Bradley Cooper’s A Star is Born, and Robert Rodriguez’s Machete movies, along with two seasons of American Horror Story. Her acting prowess has earned her multiple award nominations, including an Oscar win for her song “Shallow” in A Star is Born in 2019.
In 2023, Jenna Ortega expressed her desire for Lady Gaga to join the cast of Wednesday season 2:
I’m sure Netflix would love that. I think Mrs. Thornhill and Wednesday shared a unique connection or mentorship in a way, so if Lady Gaga were to join, it would be two monsters understanding each other. (via Entertainment Weekly)
While Gaga’s role remains undisclosed, her inclusion in the series is sure to attract more viewers to Wednesday.
