The Samsung Galaxy S25 series is currently the only set of devices that feature the long-awaited One UI 7. Unfortunately, other Samsung devices will not be receiving this update anytime soon. This delay could have an impact on devices already in use and new ones set to be launched this year.

According to SAM Mobile, sources suggest that Samsung is postponing the release of a stable One UI 7.0 update for non-Galaxy S25 series devices. The current expectation is that a stable One UI 7.0 update will not be available until the company launches the all-new Galaxy S25 Edge, which could potentially happen in April. Only after this launch will non-Galaxy S25 devices become eligible to receive a version of One UI 7, likely One UI 7.0.1.

If this news wasn’t disappointing enough, there are also reports that the delay in the One UI 7.0 update could mean that there won’t be a One UI 7.1 version available when Samsung unveils the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 this summer.

Typically, Samsung releases a new One UI X.1 version whenever its flagship foldable devices are introduced, packed with features exclusive to those models. It is now speculated that these phones will also receive One UI 7.0.1.

Historically, Samsung has not been known for releasing new versions of One UI quickly, although there has been improvement in recent years. The latest delay in releasing One UI 7.0 for non-Galaxy S25 devices also means a delay in releasing Android 15 for those devices, as it serves as the foundation of One UI 7.0.

Meanwhile, Pixel owners currently have access to beta versions of Android 16. This could potentially result in high-end Samsung phones like the Galaxy S23 Ultra or Galaxy Z Fold 5 being a generation behind Pixel phones.

SAM Mobile reports that Google aims to release the stable version of the Android 16 platform update in Q2 2025.

The initial public release of Android 15 was in October, specifically for Google Pixel devices. Since then, several other phones, including models from Motorola and OnePlus, have received updates to Android 15. Notably, just one month later, the first beta version of Android 16 was unveiled on an accelerated release schedule.

As of now, Samsung has remained silent on the reason behind the delay in the One UI 7.0 update. This news is undoubtedly frustrating for millions of Samsung customers.
