Tumblr has officially launched Tumblr TV as a new feature within its app, as announced in a recent update. Initially introduced in 2015 as a GIF-finding tool, Tumblr TV now includes video content as well.

According to Tumblr, new users will have the Tumblr TV tab enabled by default in the third position, while existing users can access it through the Dashboard Tabs configuration if not already enabled.
Upon tapping the Tumblr TV tab, users will encounter a grid of videos and GIFs. They can interact with the content by liking, commenting, reposting, or sharing it, and swiping up to navigate to the next item.
In my initial testing, the platform remains heavily focused on GIFs despite the addition of videos and a swipe-based interface reminiscent of other short-form video platforms.
While comparisons to TikTok may arise, especially following its recent issues, Tumblr TV currently feels more like browsing through a group chat filled with GIFs.
