The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor has been making waves in the tech world, with only a few phones featuring this powerful chip. However, rumors are already swirling about a new version – the Snapdragon 8s Elite processor. It is speculated to be linked to an upcoming smartphone from Xiaomi set to launch in early 2025.
Despite Qualcomm’s confusing naming conventions, industry experts suggest that the Snapdragon 8s Elite will not surpass the capabilities of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, but will fall between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Gen 3. Referred to as the SM8735, this chip may feature ARM cores instead of Qualcomm’s Oryon chip cores, and is rumored to support 7,000mAh batteries with fast charging.
Reports indicate that Xiaomi’s upcoming phone, expected to be the first device to debut with the Snapdragon 8s Elite, will sport a small quad-curve screen with a 1.5K resolution, dual-selfie camera, and Leica-tuned rear camera system. The device may belong to the Xiaomi Civi series, with a possible launch date in March or April 2025.
