Take-Two has announced the sale of its Private Division label, but the identity of the buyer and the financial details remain undisclosed. In a statement to The Verge, Take-Two spokesperson Alan Lewis stated:
The decision to sell Private Division was made strategically to shift focus towards the growth of core and mobile businesses in the long run. The buyer has acquired the rights to most of Private Division’s existing and upcoming titles.
Take-Two will continue to offer support for No Rest for the Wicked, which was launched on PC in April. We appreciate the contributions of the Private Division team and have faith in their future success under new ownership.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick mentioned to GamesIndustry.biz that the buyer will be revealed soon. He praised the Private Division team for their support of independent developers and expressed the company’s focus on creating blockbuster titles like the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI.
