Apple Releases Long-awaited Panoramic Display Feature on Vision Pro in 2.2 Beta

Exciting news for Vision Pro users as Apple introduces panoramic display options with the latest visionOS 2.2 beta release. This update now includes three virtual screen sizes, offering a wider range of display choices for Mac Virtual Display.

Initially launched in February with only one virtual screen size, Mac Virtual Display allowed users to multitask with multiple app windows open simultaneously. However, the introduction of the new ‘Wide’ and ‘Ultrawide’ display formats has been highly anticipated by many users.

According to a report by MacRumors, the visionOS 2.2 beta release promises an “ultra-wide display that wraps around you,” providing resolutions equivalent to two 4K monitors placed side by side. Additionally, Mac-side dynamic foveated rendering ensures sharp content wherever the user looks.

While the exact release date for visionOS 2.2 is unknown, it is expected to coincide with the next ‘X.2’ updates for iOS, iPadOS, macOS Sequoia, watchOS, and tvOS, as suggested by MacRumors.

To enroll in the visionOS 2.2 beta, users can follow these simple steps:

Updating Vision Pro via OTA updates

  1. Sign in to the Apple Developer Center with your Apple ID and accept the Terms of Service.
  2. Access Settings on Vision Pro and navigate to General > Software Update > Beta Updates, then choose the developer beta option.
  3. Once a new developer beta is available, install it from Software Update.
  4. After updating, users will have access to the new ‘Wide’ and ‘Ultrawide’ display options when connected to their Mac.
