Bigscreen, the social VR screen sharing platform, is known for its ability to host communal watch parties for various content on PC screens, including for Quest users. Now, the platform is introducing a new paid cloud-streaming service to make it even easier for Quest users to enjoy content without relying on a PC.
Bigscreen already offers a remote desktop client for Quest, allowing users to stream content from their PC to the Quest app. This feature is beneficial for users with lower-spec PCs, as it only requires basic system requirements.
The new ‘Cloud Browser’ service eliminates the need for a PC altogether, allowing users to host rooms and stream content directly from the cloud.
Although DRM restrictions limit access to platforms like Netflix and Disney+, Quest users can still stream content from services like Plex, Dropbox, and Vimeo using Bigscreen’s Cloud Browser.
In addition to streaming content, users can browse the web for websites and web-based games to share with others in the virtual environment.
Bigscreen’s Cloud Browser is a paid service with a free two-hour trial. Day passes are available for $1.99, providing 24 hours of access, while monthly passes cost $9.99 for 30 days of access. More information can be found on the Bigscreen website.
