8BitDo initially gained popularity by capitalizing on nostalgia, but has since expanded its product line to include high-quality gaming products at affordable prices. One of their latest offerings is the Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller, the company’s first controller in the “mobile grip” category.
Similar to other controllers like the Razer Kishi, the Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller splits a standard Bluetooth controller in two and adds a sliding phone grip in the middle. However, what sets it apart is its familiar layout and shape, reminiscent of 8BitDo’s previous successful console and PC controllers. This design choice aims to provide a larger and more comfortable grip compared to other similar controllers on the market.

What makes the Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller stand out are the Hall effect sensors used for both the triggers and analog sticks. This technology ensures durability and longevity, minimizing the chances of stick drift, a common issue among gamers. Additionally, the metal rings around the sticks add an extra layer of durability.
Compared to other budget-friendly controllers, 8BitDo’s design offers several upgrades. Users can customize button layouts, including two additional rear buttons, using 8BitDo’s PC app. Sensitivity settings for the sticks and triggers can also be adjusted to suit individual preferences. The device-agnostic slider accommodates larger phones, with the ability to hold devices up to 170mm wide/tall.
