28 Years Later: The Bone Temple Streaming Release Guide

In 2025, the British zombie film series made a successful comeback after decades. This year, it’s time to continue the journey through the post-apocalyptic (former) United Kingdom.

Led by Ralph Fiennes as Doctor Ian Kelson, and Jack O’Connell as Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal, The Bone Temple explores themes of violence, masculinity, religion, empathy and death. Blending tension with black humour and the grotesque, it tells the story of the fall of civilisation and the chance for its resurrection.

The film, directed by Nia DaCosta, who replaced Danny Boyle for this instalment, is best viewed in the cinema. However, if you want to know when The Bone Temple will be available to watch at home, read on.

How to watch 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple now

The movie is now available exclusively in cinemas.

In the UK, you can book tickets via Vue, Showcase, Odeon or Cineworld websites.

In the US, tickets are available on AMC Theatres, Fandango or Atom Tickets.

When could 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple be released on VOD?

At the time of writing, Sony hasn’t revealed any information on when The Bone Temple could appear on digital. However, we’ll try to estimate the VOD premiere date based on the studio’s previous film releases, in particular 28 Years Later.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die and Venom: The Last Dance were among Sony’s biggest hits in 2024 and were released on digital 46 days after their cinematic debuts. However, 2025’s 28 Years Later hit VOD 39 days after its theatrical release.

Based on that, we estimate that The Bone Temple could be available for rental and purchase between Tuesday, 24 February and 3 March 2026.

However, Madame Web, which severely underperformed at the box office, premiered on VOD only 30 days after debuting in cinemas. Kraven the Hunter, another comic book-based flop, appeared after 32 days. Therefore, if The Bone Temple bombs, it may drop on VOD a bit earlier.

Either way, based on previous Sony releases, we believe it’ll arrive on UK digital platforms around the same date as in the US.

Note that these dates are predictions, and Sony hasn’t confirmed any of them. When the company releases more information, we’ll update this article.

When could 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple be released on streaming platforms?

Under the agreement between Sony and Netflix, the studio’s films will be released on the streaming service at least 120 days after their theatrical release. Therefore, 28 Years Later could become available for streaming between Wednesday, 24 June and Wednesday, 1 July 2026, at the earliest.

However, Sony may postpone that release further if the film performs well.

When could 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple be released on DVD/Blu-ray?

Physical copies of Sony’s most profitable movies often hit stores 42 days after the digital release. However, there are exceptions to that. For example, Bad Boys: Ride or Die appeared on DVD and Blu-ray 63 days after the premiere on VOD.

Meanwhile, 28 Years Later arrived only a day after the movie premiered on Netflix – and that could be the case with The Bone Temple. If our estimations are correct, the film will be released on DVD and Blu-ray in late June or early July 2026.
