007: First Light gets a March 2026 release date

IO Interactive has officially announced the release date for 007: First Light, with the highly anticipated game set to launch on March 27, 2026, across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

The announcement was accompanied by an exciting gameplay reveal, showcasing half an hour of gameplay footage. The footage featured a mission to intercept rogue agent 009 at a chess tournament, highlighting the game’s evolved stealth action gameplay. The gameplay then transitioned into a thrilling high-speed car chase and intense combat as Bond pursues his target onto a fleeing cargo plane. And yes, you guessed it right – the plane’s takeoff and landing were far from smooth!

The studio also unveiled the talented ensemble cast portraying some of the most iconic characters in the game:

  • Patrick Gibson as James Bond
  • Priyanga Burford as M
  • Alastair Mackenzie as Q
  • Kiera Lester as Miss Moneypenny
  • Lennie James as Bond’s mentor, John Greenway
  • Noemie Nakai as Miss Roth

During an early preview of the gameplay at Gamescom last month, we had the chance to speak with Franchise Art Director Rasmus Poulsen. Poulsen hinted at the humor present throughout the game and discussed the dynamic between Bond and Q Lab, drawing comparisons between Desmon Llewelyn and Ben Wishaw. “We have injected humor into the game, but it’s crucial to note that it’s primarily a dry British wit. You can expect to explore the Q lab and uncover the surprising origins of their relationship. It’s definitely something to look forward to!”
